Face Mask Q & A
How often should I use a face mask?
Depending on your skin condition, 2-3 times a week is a good general guideline. Masks are a great way to fine tune your routine.
Recognizing that the skin is a living organ, it may need different treatments on different days. This Olecea™ at home treatment menu will meet your needs day by day:
Purifying Facial: Olecea™ Pearl + Charcoal Mask
Anti Aging Facial: Olecea™ Coconut Jelly + Rose Water Biocellulose Mask
Hydrating Facial: Olecea™ Botanical Soothing Mask!
Should I cleanse my face before applying a mask, and cleanse again after?
Cleansing before applying a mask is a “must” for your skin to absorb all the ingredients and benefits a mask offers. Cleansing removes dirt, oil, and impurities that can irritate the skin and prevent the active ingredients from penetrating. Follow with an alcohol-free toner like our Silver + Licorice Root Protective Facial Spray to complete the cleanse and prepare your skin to achieve optimal results. It is not necessary to cleanse your face again after the mask.
After using a sheet mask, do I still need to apply skincare products to our face?
Yes, we love that idea! The Olecea sheet masks contain serums with specific types of ingredients, so if you want to give your skin additional treatment or moisture, and seal in the actives, it’s a great idea to follow with another serum, face oil, or your favorite moisturizer.
Check out the Olecea Coconut Jelly + Rose Water Biocellulose Mask, Botanical + Hyaluronic Acid Mask! and our signature anti aging serum, Pearl Activating Elixir and Hemp + Vitamin C Glow Face Oil.
Are Olecea face masks for all skin types?
Yes, as Olecea embraces all skin types! Coconut Jelly + Rose Water Biocellulose Mask, Pearl + Charcoal Mask andBotanical + Hyaluronic Acid Maskare oil-free anti aging skin treatments that replenish the hydration levels of the skin without clogging pores!
What are the main differences and benefits of each Olecea™ face mask?
Olecea designed our face masks with the best natural skin care ingredients to help prevent and correct concerns such as aging skin, acne, rosacea and sensitivity. All three masks deliver anti aging for oily skin and sensitive skin alike, while having some key differences. Our Coconut Jelly + Rose Water Biocellulose Mask infuses skin with protective antioxidants and moisturizing healthy fats while calming and controlling bacteria, promoting a healthy skin barrier. The Botanical + Hyaluronic Acid Mask rapidly hydrates and reduces redness and irritation, while the Pearl + Charcoal Mask detoxifies and exfoliates all skin types, revealing a bright glowing complexion. Clean beauty enthusiasts rotate these masks to infuse their skin with all that they deliver, to achieve clear, smooth and luminous skin.
How can Olecea’s™ Pearl + Charcoal mask help detox our skin? How can we tell when it is exfoliating the toxins out of our skin?
This non toxic skincare treatment contains active ingredients with powerful purifying and exfoliating properties. The finely milled Pearl Powder used in ancient Asian skincare rituals has been proven by modern science to contain replenishing anti wrinkle amino acids and healing minerals that our skin needs to be healthy. Our active Charcoal Powder has superb detoxifying benefits, as it regulates oil production and keeps pores clear, preventing breakouts. The Green Coffee is an organic skin care extract with antioxidants and other compounds that help combat free radicals, fat accumulation, and excess water retention. These powerhouses are formulated in a self-heating matrix that stimulates the circulation, helping expel toxins and impurities. A few minutes after application, the mask will turn from charcoal to g, indicating that detoxification is complete. Once removed with cool water, the skin will look and feel noticeably refreshed and radiant.
SKINCARE Q & A
When purchasing skincare products, does toner, serum, and moisturizer need to be from the same brand? Or can we mix and match products from different brands?
In a perfect world, we recommend the use of clean skincare from the same natural skin care line. This is because most brands formulate their products to work together synergistically and test them to know that they are safe and effective when used together. But, for example, when you combine anti aging products from one brand with those from another, you may get overdoses of active ingredients, or the products may simply not play well together. We like playing chemist, so we understand that most skincare aficionados like to combine products. Just be sure to choose clean skincare brands and read the ingredient lists to make sure there are no toxic ingredients, and that you aren’t overdoing it on acids, retinols, or other potent actives.
When mixing those stronger ingredients, it is best to seek professional advice. Check out our blogs and educational series on ingredients, so you can make educated decisions when putting together your acne or anti aging skin care regimen.
What is the best way to apply toner?
After cleansing, spritz a cotton round or pad with an alcohol-free toner, like ourSilver + Licorice Root Protective Facial Spray. Swipe over your face, neck, and décolleté to complete the cleanse and remove hard water that can irritate the skin and leave a dulling residue. This allows your skin to better receive the benefits of your anti aging face serum, face oils, or other products that you apply. Spritz your face mist all over, gently tapping and pressing the toner into the skin with your palms and fingers, to facilitate absorption and hydration. Try working from the center of your face outwards to help detoxify and improve circulation.
Can we mix Olecea Pearl Elixir with a makeup foundation when applying to our face for extra moisture?
If your skin needs extra hydration, mixing the Olecea Pearl Activating Elixir or Vitamin B + Collagen Bubbles Activating Elixir with your foundation before applying is a beautiful idea. It will create a dewy, luminous look and prevent makeup from settling into fine lines. Makeup is transformed into an anti aging foundation that protects against damaging UV and infrared rays the whole time you wear your makeup.
Since Olecea Pearl Elixir is a lightweight gel serum, can it be used for both, winter when skin is dry, and summer when skin gets excessively oily?
Yes, absolutely! Yes, absolutely! This lightweight gel serum provides the perfect amount of hydration in the winter and isn’t too heavy during the humid summer months. Our elixir is oil-free, so it can be used on its own as a moisturizer for oily skin or with your favorite cream. For added moisture during winter, after applying the Olecea Pearl Activating Elixir, we suggest you layer the Hemp + Vitamin C Glow Face Oil or one of our moisturizers on top.
In what order should we layer all of our beauty skin care products for the most beneficial skin result?
A good rule of thumb is to apply products with the smallest molecules first so that they can be absorbed before products with larger molecules. It is also beneficial to apply water-based products before oil-based products to facilitate penetration. Here is our recommendation:
General Daily Guideline:
Step 1: Cleanser: (Coconut + Sea Sugar Foaming Cleanser)
Step 2: Toner (Silver + Licorice Root Protective Facial Spray)
Step 3: Serum (Pearl Activating Elixir) or (Vitamin B + Collagen Bubbles Activating Elixir)
Step 4: Moisturizer (Hemp + Vitamin C Glow Face Oil), (Malachite + Vitamin Skin Nutrition Cream), or (Black Tea + Ceramide Cream)
General Weekly Guideline:
After Steps 1 and 2, use an Exfoliator (Pearl + Charcoal Mask)
After exfoliation, mask with desired Olecea mask.
For weekly treatment frequency, here’s a guide that varies according to skin type and condition:
Dry: 1-2 times a week
Normal: 1-3 times a week
Oily: 2-4 times a week)
EXFOLIATING Q&A
How often should we exfoliate our face?
Exfoliation frequency really depends on the skin condition, but as a general guideline, you could follow these tips:
- Thin, dry or sensitive skin: 1 time per week
- Oily, thick or acne-prone skin: 2-3 times a week
If you would like to have your skin assessed by a professional, our Olecea estheticians are available to help. Please contact us here. We would love to help you with your skin!
Should we use a face mask after exfoliating our face?
Yes, we recommend this combination! Exfoliation paves the way for key actives to penetrate by removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Using a face mask after exfoliation increases absorption of the ingredients in the mask, helping you achieve maximum benefits and value from your investment. If your skin needs added nourishment and anti wrinkle support, apply an anti aging serum like our Pearl Activating Elixir before applying ourCoconut Jelly + Rose Water Biocellulose Mask,Botanical + Hyaluronic Acid Mask or cream mask. Check out the Pearl + Charcoal Maskas a unique form of exfoliation and mask-in-one.
SKIN Q & A
How long should we be using Olecea products before we can start seeing results and differences on our skin?
The time it takes to see results depends on the condition of your skin, which products you use, and how long you use them. Please visit our website and watch our video content to get the maximum benefit out of our clean skincare products. With some products, you may see results right away! For instance, the Olecea Pearl + Charcoal Mask gives an instantly smoother, brighter and glowing complexion.
Are there any food that we can eat to complement my Olecea skincare routine?
Beautiful skin comes from what you put on your skin, as well as what you put in your body. To complement our ocean-sourced and botanical skincare extracts ripe with antioxidant vitamins, amino acids and minerals, we recommend eating natural foods that are just as healthy. A well-balanced diet rich in antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables, with lean proteins and healthy grains will complete your beauty routine from the inside out. Healthy fats from olive oil, fatty fish and nuts are an ideal for moisturizing your skin from within. While water is not a food, adequate water intake is vital to hydrate as well.
How can we determine our skin type? Are there tips to find out if we have oily, dry, or combination skin?
There are 4 basic skin types, and our skin falls into these different categories: Normal, Dry, Oily, and Combination. Depending on external factors and how you take care of your skin, there are many different conditions like: sensitivity, acne, aging (exhibited by fine lines, wrinkles and loss of tone), rosacea, sun damage and more. Oily skin typically has a shine all over that appears soon after cleansing, whereas combination skin types see that shine in the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin), with drier cheeks. Dry skin tends to feel tight and uncomfortable, flake and develop premature aging faster than oilier skin types. Normal skin has moderate oil production designed to keep the skin moist and healthy.
